The Journal of SAHMS

Call for manuscript submissions! The Journal of the Southern Association for the History of Medicine and Science (JSAHMS), published annually in March, is a peer reviewed journal (ISSN 2639-6661) featuring original scholarship on the history of medicine and science. Manuscripts on these topics may cover any region or time period. JSAHMS accepts submissions throughout the year.

The journal is also expanding its coverage to include public history reviews. Editors are looking for reviews (~750 words) of current or future museum exhibitions, podcasts, virtual projects, documentaries, or other media that will be launched by the time of publication in spring 2027. Reviews can take any form but should cover the project's form, aim, successes and struggles, and who might find it helpful. We encourage submissions across a wide geographic range, and also encourage projects based in Pittsburgh, the site of the 2027 SAHMS conference. Writers are encouraged to send a short pitch to Jessica Hester (jhester@jh.edu).
